we found this Rajasthan tie-dye silk scarf in Jaipur-the pink city-in one of it's colorful Bazars. We designed the scarf from a full length Sari cut into 2 pieces and than tie dyed again at the bottom in one color,so each piece is unique.

Tie-Dye is a dyeing process where parts of the fabric are knotted so that when the fabric is dyed (using only vegetable dyes)the knotted sections retain their original color.This work is done by local women,each one using their own personal methods..the results are very creative,colorful and unique.

Rajasthan is colorful because of what its people wear-bright colors to make up for the absence of blossoming flowers in the region.Everything from head to toe establishes their identity,their religion,economics and social status.
